After over a week on the job, DeKalb County's new treasurer says he doesn't see a need for a restructuring of the office.
Mark Todd left his job as vice-president at Farmers and Traders State Bank in Shabbona and his County Board seat after being appointed to replace former Treasurer Christine Johnson, who's now the area's state Senator. Todd took over the office last Monday.
"I don't foresee, at this point in time, any need for any reorganization in terms of the department itself," says Todd. "My predecessor, I think, did an outstanding job of making this area as efficient as possible."
Todd says he'll be hiring one employee to fill a position thats open because of a retirement.
He says he continues to meet with staff to learn the offices overall policies and approaches to their responsibilities.
"And also taking the time to evaluate procedures in the office and how we're going things and making some assessments from there so, hopefully, we can make our office even more efficient and save the taxpayers of DeKalb County some money in that process."
Todd says the office is now getting ready for one of its biggest jobs - preparing property tax bills.
