SALEM People who sell fuel to motorists in remote locations of Oregon want to have self-serve pumps. People who live in those locations would like to be able pump their own fuel when stations are not open.
At the request of people who live and do business in places such as Jordan Valley, Burns Junction and Fields in Harney County, state Rep. Cliff Bentz, R-Ontario, has introduced House Bill 3011, which would allow self-serve fuel pumps in locations where it is not economically practical to keep gas stations staffed for 24 hours a day.
He proposes that the pumps be accessed through the use of credit cards.
