10/17/2018 - Greensburg Water Board Meeting
The Greensburg Water Board met Tuesday evening. Darren Burkhart from HNTB provided an update on the new water plant project. He reported that design work is continuing and the 90 percent design submittal remains on schedule with a delivery date of November 9th. Mr. Burkhart stated that there will be a follow-up workshop to review the submission. Since the last meeting, changes from the 50 percent design workshop have been incorporated including an additional public restroom and additional office space in a multipurpose room design.
He reported that a few areas are lagging behind, particularly the location of the field operations building due to the proximity to an existing well. The position of the building could change based on approval by IDEM. Mr. Burkhart also reported that coordination of site drainage as well as the positions of controls are slightly behind, but not unexpected, at this point in the process. He did report that action may begin in the next 2-3 months to receive approval to begin vacating the required streets for the project.
Water Plant Superintendent Rick Denney provided the board with two bids for water tower cleaning: $23,800 from National Wash Authority and $29,550 from Phoenix Water Tower Cleaning. The board approved the bid from National Wash Authority. Mr. Denney also submitted bids for tires for the department's backhoe. Walters Tire submitted bids of $2,172 for Michelin and $1,870 for Firestone. Art Brown's Marathon submitted a bid of $2,060 for Firestone. Based on recommendations and the expected treadwear life, the board approved the purchase of the Michelin tires from Walters Tire.
The board will hold its next meeting on November 20th at 6:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
