Hospice and Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore is a non-profit agency that provides a special way of caring for people with limited life expectancies. Hospice professionals and volunteers are committed to helping patients live their last months, weeks, and days in as much comfort as possible, surrounded by the people and things they love.
Hospice provides physical, emotional, and spiritual care through a medically directed interdisciplinary team of professionals and trained volunteers, including a nurse who is on call 24 hours per day, seven days per week; a home health aide; a social worker; a chaplain; and a volunteer, when possible. Hospice also provides bereavement care to families for up to one year after the death of a loved one.
Our services are available to people of any age, religion, race or illness and are provided regardless of the ability to pay.
The Hospice Thrift Stores are a community service through Hospice and Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore, a non-profit agency, which means that all of the store revenue goes towards helping patients, families, and the community at large: Hospice Services, Palliative Care, A Bereavement Program, Pet Loss Support, Caregiver Connection, Lyme Connection, The Watchman Program, and Educational Programs for the Community as well as Health Care Providers.
The Hospice Thrift Stores allow the community to assist Hospice with its mission of providing quality patient care. Proceeds ensure that patients get the care that they need, regardless of their ability to pay.
Hospice appreciates and accepts most donations. The Thrift Store's inventory consists of donated items from businesses and individuals, donations which are evaluated and sorted by trained volunteers. Thrift Store volunteers are required to complete basic Hospice orientation as well as specialized thrift store training.
Our thrift store locations are in Oak Hall (824-4447) Onancock (789-3002) and Exmore (442-3777). Please feel free to call to arrange pick up of donated items.
