The Greensburg Board of Works met Monday evening. The meeting began with Mayor Joshua Marsh swearing in board members Jamie Cain, Glenn Tebbe, Rodney King, and Dea Rust.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent Jeff Smith submitted a change order for $4,558.00 for the Gas Creek sewer project. The change order brings the total project cost to $139,463.00 with $150,000.00 budgeted for the project. The board approved the change order.
Greensburg Police Chief Brendan Bridges requested an executive session to interview candidates for the police department. He noted that Dave Wilson is retiring effective January 24th and the department is authorized an additional officer in the 2020 budget. The board set an executive session to interview three candidates on January 13th at 5:30 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
Mayor Joshua Marsh provided the board with information on Chris Stephen, his recommendation for City Attorney. After discussion, the board approved the hiring. Mayor Marsh then requested a vote of support for the hiring of Nathan Stoermer as Greensburg's new Fire Chief. The board voted 3-0 in favor with Glenn Tebbe abstaining.
Mayor Marsh then requested up to, and not to exceed, $18,300 for updated technology from the Riverboat Fund. The new equipment for the Mayor and Communications Director will help in providing more information, including content generation outside of City Hall. The board approved the request.
The board approved payment to Kramer Kreations for invoices dating back to April 2019. Mayor Marsh also informed the board that work will be taking place to update the personnel handbook for city employees. Mayor Marsh stated that if an employee works the first half of the work day, they are then entitled to full benefits for the year. In some cases, employees would work the first half of the day and then quit. In that situation, the city is required to pay out all sick time and vacation time for the year.
The board will hold its next meeting on February 3, 2020 at 5:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
