The Greensburg City Council met Monday evening. Decatur County Animal Shelter Director and Manager Ashley Hennen provided the council members with an updated version of the proposed additions and changes to the Animal Control Ordinance. The information will be compiled into a new ordinance and presented to the council for the first reading during the December meeting.
Greensburg Fire Chief Steve Garrett presented the first reading of Ordinance 2019-35 for an additional appropriation of $10,000 from the Fire Safety and Donation Fund to operational funds for the department. He noted that the department did not receive the grant for SCBA equipment and that he would be submitting a request to the Board of Works in December to purchase the equipment from the accumulated fire fund.
Greensburg Police Chief Brendan Bridges presented the first reading of Ordinance 2019-34 for an additional appropriation from the Public Safety Fund. The funds would go to the overtime fund. The board agreed to table discussion of UTV use in the city until December when a full board is present.
Darren Burkhart of HNTB provided an update on the status of the new water plant project. He noted that he will provide quarterly updates to the council. Washington Township Trustee Christian Rust provided updates on the purchase of a new tanker and pumper for the Greensburg Fire Department.
The council will hold its next meeting on December 2nd at 7:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
