6/25/2019 - Greensburg Board of Aviation Commissioners Meeting - Click here to print this information

The Greensburg Board of Aviation Commissioners met Monday evening. Vice President Jon Dooley gave the financial report with $52,541.36 in the Airport Improvement Account; $54,175.09 in the Aviation and Rotary Fuel Account; and $113,391.95 in the Airport Operations Account for a total of $220,108.40. Board President Bill Ernstes stated that the board's attorney, Donald Tribbett, should be presenting information on the finalization of the property appraisals at the July meeting.

Mr. Ernstes then began a discussion of the budget for 2020. He noted that, due to the bond for the runway project, the budget will have to be approved by the city council rather than just presented to the council as it has in the past. Mr. Ernstes also asked for the board's input on establishing a monthly payment toward the bond principle to lower the amount of interest that will be due every January and July. There was also discussion of a small increase, possibly 2.5 percent, on hangar rental. A 2.5 percent rental increase would bring in an additional $2,000 per year. There was also discussion regarding hangar rental fees at surrounding airports to determine what percentage, if any, increase would be feasible to maintain full occupancy. Mr. Dooley will work on a draft of the budget to present to the board during the July meeting. The budget proposed by the board will be presented to the city council during the August 5th council meeting.

Paul Shaffer from BF&S asked for any public comments on the 5.4 percent Disadvantaged Business Enterprise goal agreed to by the board. DBE's are for-profit small business concerns where socially and economically disadvantaged individuals own at least a 51 percent interest and also control management and daily business operations. The DBE goal is required for any projects receiving federal funding. There were no comments, so Mr. Shaffer will forward the information to the FAA.

Airport Manager Jerry Scheidler reported that the runway striping has been completed. He also noted that there is one hangar available to be rented at this point.

The board will hold its next meeting on July 22nd at 7:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
