The Greensburg Water Board met Tuesday evening. Darren Burkhart from HNTB provided an update on the water plant project. They have begun to make changes from the 50 percent design completion workshop. He expects to have the 90 percent design completion ready to present on November 9th.
Water Plant Superintendent Rick Denney provided updates on bids for the water tower cleaning for the east and Honda towers. He has received 2 bids: National Wash Authority for $23,800 and Phoenix Water Tower Cleaning at $29,500. Board members questioned why the National Wash Authority bid increased by $6,000 from last year. The board authorized Mr. Denney to reopen bids. He stated that he would go back to both bidders and also contact H2O Towers. He will present the new bids at the next meeting. Mayor Dan Manus expressed his concern about when the project could be completed.
The city has purchased the final home that is needed for the water plant project. Mr. Denney stated that, based on the backlog of work orders due to the Lincoln Street project, his crews would be unable to demolish the houses as they planned. He requested bids for the project. Cambria Contracting submitted a bid for $46,700 that would require the city to supply the dumpsters for the project. He did not receive a bid from Johannigman Excavating. Allen Excavating submitted a bid of $24,950 and they would supply the dumpsters. The board approved the bid from Allen Excavating.
The board will hold its next meeting on October 16th at 6:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
