The Greensburg Board of Works met Tuesday evening. Fire Chief Steve Garrett asked, and received approval, to dispose of an old hydraulic cutter that the department no longer uses. The equipment will go to Salem Township in Delaware County based on their request and continued use of that type of equipment.
Greensburg Clerk-Treasurer Ashlee Green received approval to transfer an old copier to the Prevention Group Coordinator in City Hall. The copier can no longer produce the volume of copies required in the Clerk-Treasurer's Office, but it can meet the needs of the Prevention Group.
Sewage and Wastewater Plant Superintendent Jeff Smith presented the board with payout 18 to Strand and Associates for just over $69,000. He submitted Change Order 4 that provides a credit of about $26,000. He also requested a partial release of retainage of about $145,000 to Strand and Associates. Retainage is a portion of the agreed upon contract price deliberately withheld until the work is substantially complete to assure that the contractor or subcontractor will satisfy its obligations and complete a construction project. The reduction in this case would reduce the amount of the retainage from 5 percent to 2 percent. The board approved each request.
The board will hold its next meeting on October 1st at 5:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
