The Greensburg Water Board met Tuesday evening. Darren Burkhart of HNTB provided an update on the water plant project. He reported that the design phase is almost set with the overall layout. He expects the official 50 percent update submittal by August 1st. Duke Energy is currently reviewing overhead lines to determine adjustments that may be necessary. The new plant will increase revenue, so the costs involved in moving lines will have to be taken into consideration.
Water Plant Superintendent Rick Denney opened chemical bids for chlorine, aluminum sulfate, fluoride, sodium bicarbonate, and potassium permanganate. PVS Chemicals and Brenntag submitted bids for each chemical. Jones Chemicals submitted a bid for only chlorine. Mr. Denney will present the board with a spreadsheet with all bids during the July meeting.
He also led a discussion of installing a security camera system for the plant based on discussions with the Mayor. Mad Tech Services provided quotes based on 10 and 16 cameras. He was advised that 10 cameras would be sufficient for the current plant at a cost of $7,345. Additional cameras could be installed for the new plant with a total cost of 16 cameras at $11,388. The cameras come with a two-year warranty with a one-year warranty on wiring and installation. The board approved purchasing 10 cameras for $7,345. The board also approved hiring Christopher Burke Engineering for the Upland Dam Inspection at a cost of $4,500 for the inspection, preparation of reports, and submitting reports to the State.
The board will hold its next meeting on July 17th at 6:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
