6/8/2018 - Foundation Celebration - Click here to print this information

Decatur County Community Foundation wrapped up its' year long 25th year celebration last night. As part of the event, five of the founding members were center stage to talk about the foundation's formation. They talked about setting out to raise $500,000 in order to receive matching funds from Lilly. The Lilly Endowment decided it wanted to give all communities in Indiana the opportunity to start their own community fund. Fast forward to the present: The Foundation has 22 million in assets and has given out over 12 million dollars in grants and scholarships back to the community. It is supported by a number of donors.

The Foundation wrapped up its' monthly wheel spins with two winners - $1000 each. Legal Aid and Power of the Past are the recipients. The spins started last year at the annual meeting held in July and have taken place monthly.

The Stephen Decatur award was presented to Rick and Mary Johnson for all the work they have done throughout the county.
