6/5/2018 - ONSTAR DISABLES REPORTED STOLEN VEHICLE TWO TAKEN INTO CUSTODY - Click here to print this information

On June 4, 2018, Bartholomew County Sheriff's Deputy Teancum Clark was dispatched to
Newbern to assist Columbus Police Department in the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

ONSTAR had disabled the white Chevy Malibu and verified its location at 15785 E Main Street.

Deputy Brent Worman located the vehicle and two suspects behind a garage; however, the
male subject, identified as Charles Riley Barr, Jr., 39, 15785 Main Street, Newbern, fled on foot.

Deputy Clark followed Barr who was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

Deputy Worman remained with the female suspect identified as Samantha Jane Anderson, 26, 547 Della Road, Columbus.

Both Anderson and Barr were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Anderson on preliminary charges of:

-Auto Theft/Receiving Stolen Property

She remains in BCJ without bond.

Barr on preliminary charges of:

-Outstanding Warrant,
-Body Attachment,
-Resisting Law Enforcement

Barr remains in BCJ in lieu of $7,950 bond.

All persons are considered innocent unless/until proven guilty in a court of law.
