4/18/2018 - Greensburg Water Board Meeting - Click here to print this information

The Greensburg Water Board met Tuesday evening. Darren Burkhart from HNTB provided a briefing on the current water plant design proposal.

Superintendent Rick Denney gave an update on the meter reader truck. The city had previously asked that a three-quarter ton truck with a snow plow package be considered to assist during bad weather. During the last meeting, Mr. Denney stated that he would get prices for both three-quarter ton and half-ton trucks. After speaking with the meter reader, it was determined that the half-ton truck better met the primary need for the department. Mr. Denney requested three quotes for a half-ton 4WD truck with a utility box. He has received 2 quotes with the lowest at $27,837. The board authorized spending up to $27,837 pending the third quote.

Mr. Denney reported that the Consumer Confidence Report has been approved by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. It currently costs about $3,000 to send the report, so other methods are being considered and tested. He reported that the department will be replacing water lines from Walnut Street south to North Street as part of the Lincoln Street project with a projected start in mid-May. He requested authorization to rent an excavator at a cost of about $4,900 for one month. He is optimistic that the excavator can also be used during that month to tear down the 5 houses acquired as part of the water plant project.

The board will hold its next meeting on May 15th at 6:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
