The Greensburg Water Board met Tuesday evening and was attended by new board member Ryan Maddux. Darren Burkhart from HNTB provided an update on the water plant project. He told the board that soil boring will take place on Wednesday. Soil boring is a technique used to survey soil by taking several shallow cores out of the sediment and is used when a drilling jacket or jack-up rig is to be supported on the soil. He expects it to take about 45 days to get the results.
Water Plant Superintendent Rick Denney provided the 2017 Operations Report. He stated that 826,860,000 gallons of water were pumped during 2017 and included the first day that exceeded 3 million gallons. New mains were installed at Moscow Road and 8th Street as well as Moscow Road and 7th Street. All of the Ludlow Hydrants, many at least 75 years old, were replaced during 2017. The board approved renewing the farm ground lease with the Holland family.
The board will hold its next meeting on March 20th at 6:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
