2/16/2018 - Greensburg Redevelopment Commission Meeting - Click here to print this information

The Greensburg Redevelopment Commission met Thursday evening. Cindy Navarra, Director of Financial Services for Greensburg Community Schools provided an update of the school corporation's plan to use the $150,000 on the commission's project list. She stated that the school corporation would use the funds to purchase approximately 550 new Chromebooks for the junior high. About 60 percent of students come from homes at, or below, the poverty level. The funding from the RDC will allow the school corporation to purchase programs that would otherwise not be available to students. The commission approved the full amount based on funds from the 2017 project list with the additional requirement to present to the RDC again next school year.

City Engineer Ron May provided an update on the Veterans Way Phase II project. He pointed out that the critical issue remains right-of-way acquisition. The first three offers to property owners were sent in mid-January with the remaining four sent in early February. Property owners have 30 days to evaluate and respond to the offers. The 30 day period for the first 3 offers ends on February 16th. Mr. May also provided an update on the Lincoln Street project. The design process is in place, minus the drainage portion. The plan is scheduled to be presented to the Board of Works on March 5th. He expects the plan will go public for bidding around April 2nd.

The commission members approved payment of about $17,000 for 2 claims from American Structurepoint. The RDC will hold its next meeting on March 15th at 6:30 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
