The Greensburg City Council met on Monday evening. Police Chief Brendan Bridges told the council that the department has received over $19,000 from the courts. He requested that $19,465 be moved to the city general fund and then authorize spending the funds to improve and upgrade the iRecord system. The council approved the request. Chief Bridges also stated that the department received $14,000 in 2015 from Operation Pull Over and will receive a check for 2017. He requested transferring the balance to the city general fund and then transferring the funds to narcotics and criminal investigations.

The council approved Steve Hamilton as the council's appointment to the Plan Commission contingent on his acceptance. Council member Darren Covington announced that he has stepped down as the City Council Representative to the Economic Development Corporation. The council will take action at the March meeting.

Mayor Dan Manus gave his 2017 year in review. He pointed out the commitment to public safety with the addition of one firefighter and the dedication of Fire Station 2. He discussed the trash totes and recycling totes and how they have helped the appearance of the city. He talked about the low unemployment rate and the work to gain higher paying jobs. He updated the Council on investments made in 2017 by several factories. He pointed out that the Chamber of Commerce hosted 15 ribbon cuttings during 2017.

The council will hold its next meeting on March 5th at 7:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
