The Greensburg Water Board met Tuesday evening. Darren Burkhart from HNTB provided an update on the Surface Water Treatment plant project. The State Revolving Fund loan for the project was approved on December 11th. The project will now move to the scope for design and bid stage. Mr. Burkhart provided an overview of the new plant and emphasized that the chemical feed facilities will use bleach rather than chlorine gas for safety reasons. The two existing plants will also be modified to bleach from chlorine.
Superintendent Rick Denney updated the board on the status of bids for a meter reader truck to replace the current 2002 Dodge. He requested 3 quotes, but has only received 2 at this point. He requested that the issue be tabled until the January meeting so 3 bids can be considered. He pointed out that the new truck will need a utility box for equipment. Any new truck will come with a snow plow so it can be used to assist the street department when necessary.
The board will hold its next meeting on January 16th at 6:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
