The Greensburg Board of Works met Monday evening. The board selected a candidate for a police officer position and authorized Police Chief Brendan Bridges to make a job offer to begin on January 2nd, 2018. The board authorized the promotion of Officer Bryan Katterhenry to 1st Class Patrolman effective December 10th. Chief Bridges briefed the board on recommended purchases of police vehicles for 2018, with 4 vehicles scheduled for rotation. He recommended purchasing three SUVs and one Dodge Charger at a cost of about $130,000. The board agreed to leave the choice of vehicle types to the discretion of Chief Bridges and Mayor Dan Manus.

Kathy Reynolds led a discussion of creating code enforcement tickets for zoning violations. City Attorney Chris Tebbe will assist in the development of the form. Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Plan Superintendent Jeff Smith received approval for a payment of just under $308,000 to Strand and Associates.

Street Commissioner Mark Klosterkemper presented the board with an INDOT supplemental agreement for the Veterans Way Phase II project. The board approved the agreement, which establishes timelines that will determine when funds will be available. Mr. Klosterkemper received board approval to spend just over $9,600 for a new salt spreader. The board approved selling the street department's 1992 truck to Burkhart's for $350.

The board will hold its next meeting on January 2nd, 2018 at 5:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
