The Greensburg Board of Aviation Commissioners met Monday evening. Vice President Jon Dooley provided the financial report. The airport currently has just under $6,900 in the airport improvement account, about $98,500 in the aviation and rotary fuel account, and approximately $199,400 in the airport operations account.
Paul Shaffer of BF&S briefed the board on the status of the airport environmental assessment document for the proposed expansion. Since the previous board meeting, Mr. Shaffer, President Bill Ernstes, Vice President Jon Dooley, and Greensburg Mayor Dan Manus participated in a meeting with the Indiana Department of Transportation and the FAA to discuss the capital improvement program. Mr. Shaffer described the meeting as positive, but stated that there was no indication when, or if, the environmental document would be signed. The board granted authorization for President Bill Ernstes to sign grant applications for 2018. The board received a grant in 2017 to be used for preliminary design for the proposed runway 119 and would propose final design for any grants received in 2018. All grants are contingent on approval of the environmental document.
Airport manager Jerry Scheidler provided an airport status update. All of the hangars are occupied and there are 3 aircraft on the waiting list, although one of the aircraft is too large for the current hangars. The board could eventually add hangars, but would have to get long term agreements before taking any action.
The board will hold its next meeting on December 26th, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Greensburg City Hall.
