The Westport Town Meeting was held at the Westport Community Building on the evening of November 13, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. The meeting began with the reading of minutes from the October 9th meeting, and the October 12th Special Session meeting. Globe Asphalts bid of $138,000 for Projects 2 and 3 was accepted at the Special Session on October 12th.
Richard Smith gave updates on the street and cemetery reports. Among the updates, 2 graves were dug, and the cemetery and town properties were mowed twice in October. He updated the Council of the completion of the repaving of West and Dean Streets, and the other paving projects to be submitted by April, under the Community Crossing Grant.
Joyce Brindley presented the Marshals report, which included 3 arrests, 22 citations, 1 written and 26 verbal warnings, 1 accident involving personal injury and property damage, 1 complaint, 5 incidents, 3 towed vehicles, 5 investigations,1 community assist program, 8 Decatur County assists, 4 C.P.S. assists, and 2 Animal Control assists. There was a total of 115.5 Reserve hours.
Brian Gatewood presented the Water and Sewage Reports, the update of the Community Buildings roofs being completed, and the past-due water and sewer bill requests. 1 request to pay on November 24 was submitted in writing, and was approved by the Council. 1 request submitted was illegible, and was rejected.
Sherry Wagner informed the Council of a break-in and 2 attempted break-ins at the end of her street, and requested a light pole on Shady Lane, which the Council approved. A light pole at 404 W. Main Street has been approved by the Council, and Duke Energy will be notified.
Vincent Sommers updated the Council of the project with Commonwealth Engineers, stating a report should be completed in the next two weeks, and presented at the next meeting. He has been in contact with Doreen Graves, and the valve will be scheduled to be fixed by Thursday, November 16th.

The next town meeting will be held on Monday, December 11th at 7:00 P.M.
