The Decatur County Commissioners met on Monday, November 6th at 8:00 A.M. at the Decatur County Courthouse. The minutes of the October 16th meeting were approved.
Krista Duvall updated the Commissioners of Ordinance 2017-16, the rezoning of a property in New Point, requested by Bob West. The request was rejected by the Area Planning Commission, because of safety concerns. The Commissioners confirmed the rejection of the request with a unanimous vote of "No" to the request to rezone the property. She then presented an update of the 2020 Census Report to the Commissioners.
Gary Herbert updated the Commissioners of the new website contract for Decatur County Tourism. The proposed new website and website provider cost would remain about the same.
Wendy Blake updated the Commissioners of the scheduled Holiday Walk Event on December 9th, which will include a parade in the morning, a Santa House, and a train display. The event will run from 9:00 A.M. through 7:00 P.M, and the Commissioners approved the use of the south end of the courthouse parking lot and lawn for the event.
Kenny Buening updated the Commissioners of 57 inspections, 2 red tags, 2 responses to complaint letters, the Montgomery Road property clean-up, and the on-going investigation of the Highway 46 property complaint. He indicated that a follow-up of a complaint in Forrest Hill of a blocked alley was in progress.
The Commissioners and Mayor Dan Manus approved the combining of polling locations for the Decatur County Election Board. The Commissioners are reviewing the credit card requests, and plan to vote on the requests on November 20th at the next scheduled Commissioners meeting. An Executive Session will be held on Monday, November 13th at 8:00 A.M. to discuss bids for the new county jail project. The Decatur County Courthouse will be closed in observation of Veteran's Day Holiday on Friday, November 10th. Tax payments due will be accepted through November 13th, and will not be deemed late.
Mark Mohr updated the Commissioners of the project on 600 East, which is completed, and the road is open. The 1300 South structure is being installed, and the road should be open in a few days. He is planning to clean up storm debris from the November 5th storms by the end of the day today. He introduced Matt Lee of United Consulting, and Mike Lee gave the Commissioners a bridge inspection update.
