6/27/2017 - Board of Aviation Commissioners informal Q&A session - Click here to print this information

Greensburg's Board of Aviation Commissioners is inviting the general public to an informal question and answer session from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm this Thursday, June 29, 2017 at City Hall, just prior to the scheduled 6:30 pm public hearing on the FAA's draft environmental assessment document for the proposed replacement runway at the Greensburg Municipal Airport.

The engineers from Butler, Fairman & Seufert as
well as airport board members will be available for one-on-one discussions for anyone interested in the project.

At 6:30 pm the public hearing will commence and allow anyone to officially comment on the document, which is available for public review at the Greensburg Public Library.

The Greensburg airport is part of the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) meaning that it is a significant component of the national aviation infrastructure network and it is targeted for funding from the Airport and Airway Trust Fund to bring the airport up to current standards for design, technology, and capacity. General aviation airports in communities such as Greensburg have been a significant asset by servicing and attracting local business and industry.

Local funding is 5% of the total project cost. The Trust Fund, which is capitalized by fees on air freight, aircraft fuel, and airline tickets, pays 90%. The remaining 5% is paid by a similar state program through INDOT's aviation division.
