6/17/2017 - Trooper injured in west side crash in indianapolis - Click here to print this information

Indianapolis, IN - An Indiana State Trooper is recovering in the hospital this afternoon after a crash on the west side of town.

Shortly after 12:00 p.m. Trooper Nathan Parton was responding to a domestic battery with his lights and siren activated. As he drove eastbound on Washington Street, a northbound car came off a side street and struck the passenger side of his vehicle.

Investigators believe 64 year old Sandra Huff of Indianapolis was stopped on Taft Street at Washtington Street, it appears she failed to yield to the emergency lights as she pulled gold 2012 Chevrolet onto Washington Street and struck the eastbound police car. Trooper Parton, a two year state police veteran, was transported to Eskenazi Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Huff was not injured, however she was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash. Even though a citation was issued, all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
