From the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department

On March 18, 2017, (approx. 5:16 pm), Bartholomew County Sheriffs Deputy Terrance Holderness responded to a call at the Marathon Station on US 31, Taylorsville, in reference to a vehicle fire. On arrival, Deputy Holderness found a 2000 white Oldsmobile Alero completely engulfed.
Both occupants, Marbin McCall and Trish Barker, both of Edinburgh, had safely exited the vehicle. The owner, Stan Shepherd arrived on scene shortly afterwards.
The occupants advised that the radio area of the vehicle began smoking and increased in intensity so they pulled into the parking lot of the Marathon station and exited the vehicle. The Alero then burst into flames and was totally consumed.

Assisting agencies: Columbus Regional Hospital EMS, German Township Volunteer Fire Department, East Columbus Volunteer Fire Department and Clifford Volunteer Fire.
