More Information The Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce hosted a special event Thursday evening highlighted by a presentation from Ted McKinney, the Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. Mr. McKinney discussed global realities and strategic planning. He stated that agricultural business in Indiana creates $25 billion in gross domestic product and includes 17% of the state's workforce. He said that the large growth in the world population will increase protein demand by 60% by the year 2050, giving Indiana tremendous opportunities. He showed that Indiana has an economic development opportunity as a national leader in agricultural research and development. He highlighted that the United States, and especially Indiana, are low cost producers of food. He emphasized that our Indiana producers are known for safe and abundant food and protein production. He also discussed the Indiana Growth initiative that supports products grown or made by Hoosiers. The initiative has grown to more than 675 members starting its second year.
