A Greensburg man faces allegations of possession of a syringe and assisting a criminal, both level 6 felonies. 50-year old Gene Cox was charged in Decatur County Circuit Court on March 8th. According to court documents, a Greensburg Police Department officer was patrolling northbound on Lincoln Street and Central when he made visual contact with the suspect. The officer was aware that the suspect had a warrant out for his arrest. According to the police report, the officer confirmed through dispatch that the suspect had a warrant for a level 6 felony for theft. The suspect is alleged to have had a tan bag in his possession containing 59 syringes. The suspect stated that he was doing his own needle exchange program and was handing them out to people that needed them. The suspect was transported to the Decatur County Jail and booked for the theft warrant and possession of a syringe.
