More Information The Decatur County Community Schools held their monthly board meeting Wednesday evening. Willard Rice and Kim Gauck were recognized as this month's recipients of the Extra Effort Award. The board approved a motion to be the sponsoring agency for a grant request to the Decatur County Community Foundation to assist in the annual Back to School Bash. The board accepted the retirement request of Cynthia Robbins from South Decatur Elementary School. The board will conduct a superintendent search committee meeting on April 4th. The committee will conduct an initial screening and determine the hiring process. The elementary schools will participate in the Rachel's Challenge Program later this month. The presentation will take place at North Decatur Elementary on March 30th with an evening presentation for staff and parents. South Decatur Elementary will receive the presentation on March 31st. Information on the program is available at rachelschallenge.org. The district will participate in Camp Invention for students in grades 1-6 from June 5th through June 9th. More information is available at campinvention.org. The board will hold its next meeting on April 12th at 6:00 pm at the Central Office.
