By Doug Erdman

SHAWANO- Congressman Steve Kagen was making a campaign swing around the district getting ready to announce his campaign for re-election.

Kagen said running for re-election is a first for him. He said he is a first term congressman and hopes to be a second term and continue the work he has done in Washington D.C.

Kagen said John Gard, even though he is a constituent should not misrepresent what Kagen believes in. Kagen said he is in favor of drilling for new oil and natural gas right here in America. Kagen said he introduced a bill that said American Oil should be sold to Americans because it is our natural resource.

Kagen said there are other major differences between the two candidates other than oil. He said Gard supports the failed economic policies of the Bush Administration that have driven us into a recession, that have created a greater national debt than we have ever had in our history that have caused these sky gas prices.

Kagen said he himself is dead set against them and we have to balance our budgets in Washington D.C. just like we do at home.
