(Annapolis, MD) WNAV - The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has issued an emergency waterway closure due to a sewage spill for a section of Carr Creek in Annapolis. Carr Creek, located off the Severn River, is closed from its headwaters to Carrs Creek Road. The spill, estimated at over 40,000 gallons, originated near the pumping station at the Naval Academy Golf Course on Bryant Road.

The closure will be in effect until July 10, 2018, and it applies to swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and other direct water contact for Carr Creek. The Department of Health advises people coming in contact with the affected water to wash well with soap and warm water immediately. Clothing should also be washed.
