6/29/2018 - Troopers Respond to Domestic: Leads to Shooting - Click here to print this information

(WNAV) -- State police say a suspect assaulted an officer on the Eastern Shore with his vehicle and was then wounded by gunfire.

It started around 12:30 a.m. Friday with a phone call from a mother reporting a domestic incident. She told officers her son was chasing his girlfriend down the street and she was naked. The girlfriend told troopers that the boyfriend had stolen her car and was still in the area. The suspect rammed a cruiser, while trying to escape and would not stop, surrender when ordered or get out of the car.

At this point, the unidentified officer from Cambridge Police Department fired at the car as it drove towards him while speeding up, running over his foot and injuring his leg.

The suspect was located nearby in the reported stolen car and had suffered a gunshot wound. Officials say the suspect will face charges upon his release from Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
