(WNAV) -- Queen Anne's County officials say two men have died after a domestic dispute on Woodstock Road in Chestertown.

The 911 caller was identified as the wife of suspect, Charles Walter Jr. In initial details, officials say there was a 911 call around 9:15 p.m. but the caller hung up.

Officials learned the call came for Mrs. Walter to report her son had been shot.

Queen Anne's County dispatcher sent deputies to check on the situation. Mrs. Walter was outside the home when officers arrived and visibly shaken. She told officers that her husband had shot his step-son who was wounded and in the house.

Officials say in the meantime, Mr. Walter left the home, armed with a handgun, and locked himself in a shed on the property.

After a standoff, first responders were able to get into the shed and found the body of Mr. Walter. It's believed he died of a self inflicted gunshot. He was 54-years-old.

When entering the home, deputies located Mrs. Walter's son who had suffered multiple gunshots and he was pronounced dead. The deceased step-son is identified as Kenneth Johnson Jr. He was 36-years-old. His mother was transported to Chester River Hospital.

The Queen Anne's County Sheriff's office, Maryland State Police and others involved in emergency operations are assisting in the investigation, which continues today.
