OWINGS MILL, Md. (AP) - A Democratic candidate for governor of Maryland has died suddenly.

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz died early this morning. Officials say it was cardiac arrest.

The release from Baltimore County says Mr. Kamenetz was at home in Owings Mill, woke around 2 a.m., complaining of feeling ill. He was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center,
where he was declared dead at 3:22 in the morning.

The two-term county executive was a fixture
in politics for nearly 25-years. He also served as a councilman.

He was one of seven candidates in the race for the Democratic nomination to oppose Republican Gov. Larry Hogan this fall.

Kamenetz was only 60-yearsold and is survived by his wife and two sons, both teenagers.
