Annapolis, MD (WNAV) -
According to the Annapolis Fire Department, at 11:33 pm on Saturday March 3rd, units from Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Fire Department were dispatched to the unit block of Hudson street for a report of an unknown chemical odor coming through the vents.
Occupants of the building were evacuated and transported by city bus to another building for safety. There were no reported injuries to civilians or Emergency personnel.
By early Sunday morning it had been determined that the source of the odor was coming from a utility room, and was believed to be something poured down drain.
The on duty Annapolis Building Inspector was called due to the unsafe conditions inside the structure.
The building will remain uninhabitable until an environmental company can clean the system. Red Cross will be assisting with housing the displaced residents.
