(Centreville, MD) WNAV -- Queen Annes officials say theyre mourning the passing of one of their K-9 officers assigned to the Sheriffs department.

K-9 Blek, a black Malanois/German Shepherd mix finished a three year tour of duty and was four-years old. Officials say he had a seizure while playing and died at a local veterinary hospital in Annapolis on Friday.

Blek, a mutipurpose dog, was trained in and used for drug patrol, contraband searches, criminal apprehension, and public education. He was a great ambassador for the Sheriffs office.

During his three years in the line of duty, K-9 Blek made 235 drug scans, assisted in 148 arrests, seized over $15,000 in suspected drug money and assisted in the seizure of nine vehicles.

Officials say that dog loved people, his work, loved to play ball and eat chicken nuggets.

Funeral arrangements will be released when they are finalized by the handler and agency.
