UPDATE: Identification and Initial Investigation Results:

County police say the sedan driven by 71-year-old Joseph Barnes of Clinton crossed over the center line into the travel lane of the pickup truck. Results of the investigation are sent to the State's Attorney for review. Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.
The pickup truck driver is from Harwood, had minor injuries and refused treatment.


(Lothian, MD) WNAV -- A serious accident in south county on Labor Day evening trapped an elderly man, causing critical injuries. Just before 8 p.m., first responders started work to free him from his sedan after a head on collision with a pickup truck on Sands Road, near Wallace Place in Lothian. It took almost half an hour to remove him from the wreckage. Officials say he was transported by medevac to Shock Trauma with injuries that are critical and possibly life threatening. The driver in the pickup was okay. An investigation is underway.
