HICKORY (WKVS) A Granite Falls elementary school teacher was arrested by Hickory police and charged with driving while impaired and hit and run with property damage. The Hickory Daily Record has reported that 55-year-old Susan Clark Mackie was arrested after she allegedly hit a car while turning onto an onramp of Intersate 40 in Hickory at about 1 a.m. Sunday. Mackie allegedly drove away from the wreck, but was followed by a witness in another car who called the police. The collision caused approximately $1,500 in damage to both vehicles. Mackie teaches in the Exceptional Children's Program at Granite Falls Elementary School, according to the school's Web site.
