UPDATE: Hurricane Harvey Efforts - Click here to print this information

Dear Ashe County Residents:

I have been in communication with the Harris Health Systems of Harris County in Houston, TX to discuss the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. My heart is filled emotion as I have heard stories of tragic loss as a result of the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Unable to evacuate, not only are the hospital patients in need of continued care but those who have dedicated their lives to provide care to the sick and afflicted have also been affected as well. Ben Taub Hospital is a world renowned Level I Trauma Center with 444 licensed acute-care beds and provides a wide range outpatient services are now faced with their own sense of urgency to receive basic necessities.

Humbled by the Ashe County community for their heartfelt generosity, they have shared that over 1,000 healthcare workers have lost and had great damage to their homes. Items needed include:

New clothes/socks
New bedding
New towels
Cleaning products (dish soap, brooms, dish rags, bleach, buckets, rubber gloves, trash bags, toiletries, masks)
Diapers/ wipes
Non-perishable food
Pet food (dog/cat)

Checks can be made to the AMH Foundation for money donations as well. Please drop off your donated items to AMH on Monday, September 11, 2017.

Thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Laura Lambeth, RN, BSN, MHS
