Ann Page of Arthur Ln. in Accomac entered Circuit Court on Thursday with a plea agreement on charges of embezzlement of Accomack County Republican party funds. The agreement reduced two felony charges of embezzlement to two misdemeanor charges in exchange for a guilty plea and 100% restitution.

Proffered evidence presented by Commonwealths Attorney Randy Foltz was that Ms. Page was the treasurer of the Republican Party of Accomack County when she obtained a bankcard on the Republican bank account and begin to use it for personal use. Page pled guilty to embezzling $828.51 between May 1, 2016 and October 30, 2016 and to embezzling an additional $344.97 between November 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. Foltz reported that Page contacted the chairman of the Republican Party and confessed on February 11, 2016 which led to the investigation by the local Sheriffs Department .

Defense attorney Teresa bliss told the court that Page had lost her job, had bills to pay, and family illnesses that prompted her to make a bad decision but the court should consider that Page had no previous record. Bliss also asked that if incarceration was going to be applied that she be allowed to serve on weekends and or community service.

Judge Lewis then accepted the defendants guilty plea and sentenced her to 6 months on each of the 2 charges suspending it all but 4 days. Judge Lewis also allowed the defendant to report to jail on Friday before 5 PM.
