-An apparent incident of battery took place in the 200 block of West Washington Street in Morris yesterday evening. Shortly after 6 pm an unidentified young man allegedly struck a young female companion with whom he was walking. Morris Police arrived on the scene and took the alleged offender into custody and interviewed the victim who was not seriously injured. Police had left the scene by 7 pm. No other information is available on this incident at this time.
-The Peoria County Coroner's office and Marseilles Police are investigating the death of a 12 day old Marseilles baby, Ean Mariotto. On Thursday Marseilles EMS responded to a home in the 200 block of Clark street in the village for an infant who had been injured at that location. Exactly how the injuries occurred is unknown, but it was clear that the infant had suffered significant trauma under questionable circumstances. The death remains under investigation by Marseilles Police and the La Salle County Coroner's office.
-The Grundy County Highway department would like to remind all motorists that the BSNF railway will be closing Gorman Road between Reed Road and Spring Road to all traffic starting today and running through June 27th. No detour signs will be posted.
