- The Grundy County Land Use Department will be holding their annual document shredding event this month. The event will be held on May 19th from 10 am until Noon at the Grundy County Administration Building at 1320 Union Street in Morris. Those with questions about the event can call the Land Use office at 941-3229

- The Channahon Police Department's K9 officer, a German Shepherd named "Hutch", has been provided with a bullet and stab protective vest. The vest was presented to the department by a non profit organization Vested Interest in K9's. The group has provided over 2,400 protective vests, in all 50 states, to police dogs through private and corporate donations.

-State Senator Sue Rezin will be holding a live teleforum next week to discuss the growing use of heroin by young people. Guests on the teleforum will be Luke Tomsha who at one time was addicted to heroin and is still recovering from the addiction, Joseph Stavola an Illinois State Police Master Sergeant, and member of the Kendall County Cooperative Police Assistance team, which deals with combating illegal drugs. The final participant will be Dr. Maria Bruni from the Illinois Department of Human Services, who is also the acting director of the Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
