Plumas County judge, Ira Kaufman ruled there is enough evidence for a Reno man to stand trial on eight felony charges, including murder. Gregory Chad Wallin-Reed is expected to go to trial this summer in the shooting death of Rory McGuire, of Susanville. 36 year old, Wallin-Reed is accused of killing McGuire and wounding two other men with an assault rifle following a car chase near Antelope Lake this past July. Wallin-Reed was arrested July 3, 2011, after reportedly admitted to the chase and shooting during a 911 call, stating that the occupants of the vehicle had stolen solar lighting from his property. He is accused of firing several rounds from an assault type rifle at a car driven by McGuire during a late-night chase that began at Wallin-Reeds residence along the Janesville Grade and ended nearly 7 miles away. Five people were in the vehicle along with McGuire who was fatally wounded, he died two days after being shot in the head. Two other men in the vehicle were wounded but survived the ordeal. Plumas County Superior Court Judge Ira Kaufman set a Feb. 10 arraignment date for Wallin-Reed, rejecting a defense request to lower Wallin-Reeds bail to $100 thousand dollars. He was returned to custody with bail remaining at 1 million dollars.
