During the Lassen County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board was asked to approve a Proclamation for the Healthy CalFresh Initiative Partnership with the Lassen County-Modoc Food Bank.
According to Barbra Longo of Lassen Health and Social Services, in an effort to support local SNAP-ED programs, the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) created a new comprehensive Healthy Fresh resource toolkit.
CDSS is releasing the toolkit statewide through the newly established Healthy CalFresh Initiative during the months of May and June of 2018.
The Healthy CalFresh Initiative includes three distinct but coordinated campaigns, including Get More at the Farmers Market, Rethink Your Drink, and eatFresh.org.
CDSS offered funding to counties who wished to participate in the effort, and Lassen County was one of the 30 counties selected to participate.
CDSS awarded $14,000 to the County to assist with the establishment of the Healthy CalFresh Initiative within the community.
Lassen County Health and Social Services will coordinate the three components of the Healthy CalFresh Initiative with community partners, including the Lassen County-Modoc Food Bank.
The Board unanimously approved the proclamation.
