5/4/2018 - Susanville City Council Receives Susanville Fire Department's Quarterly Update

During the Susanville City Council meeting, the Council received an update from the Susanville Fire Department.
According to Fire Chief James Moore, the Fire Department is currently fully staffed with nine paid staff members.
In addition, the Department has 22 volunteer firefighters, with two applicants waiting to become members.
The department also has one volunteer chaplain, and will be bringing a female chaplain on board to help serve the female firefighters.
This quarter, the fire department responded to 538 various incidents, which included 16 local fires and 2 out of area fires.
The Fire Department also continues to work with the Regional HazMat Program to obtain their Type II OES HazMat Response vehicle after successfully completing their extensive training.
In addition, the Fire Department continues their fire prevention efforts by conducting business inspections.
They also work to educate the public about fire and fire safety.
This quarter, they have given 4 station tours and 3 presentations to local students. They also participated in Lassen Community Colleges Career day.
The Fire Department also continues to offer quarterly CPR/First Aid classes to the public.
The Fire Department has also participated in numerous events, including the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Annual Firefighter of the year awards dinner.
The Departments Explorers Program has been very active as well, and managed to raise nearly $1000 for the Shop with a Hero Program.
At the conclusion of his update, the Council thanked Chief Moore and the Fire Department for their hard work and effort.
