During the Lassen County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board discussed the Law Library Board of Trustees.
According to County Counsel Bob Burns, the Board of Trustees currently consists of six appointed members; however, they often struggle to create a quorum for their meetings.
In an effort to resolve the issue, Mr. Burns requested the Board of Supervisors to reduce the number of Trustees to only three people.
After some investigating, Mr. Burns discovered that the law allows Counties with three Superior Court judges or less to be able to reduce the number of Trustees needed to a minimum of three.
However, the action would require the concurrence of the majority of the judiciary incumbents of the Lassen County Superior Court.
Luckily, both Judge Mallory and Judge Nareau are in favor of the reduction, and have offered their unanimous support.
The three individuals selected for the Board of Trustees is also outlined by law.
The Trustees serving on the Law Library Board would be Judge Mallory, Judge Nareau, and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Chris Gallagher.
The Board unanimously approved Mr. Burns request, thereby reducing the number of Trustees required for the Law Library Board to only three people.
