On October 12, 2017, Deputies from the Trinity County Sheriffs Office arrested David C. Frederick for crimes associated with child molestation.
At the time of Fredericks arrest, Frederick had been working as a teacher at the Coffee Creek Elementary School.
The investigation spanned throughout several California Counties and across various state lines.
Numerous victims in several different jurisdictions were discovered and interviewed.
During an interview with the Sheriffs Department, Frederick admitted to having had inappropriate relationships, some of which had been sexual in nature, with various underage students during his twenty plus years of working as a teacher.
It should be noted that Frederick had been a teacher at various locations in California, most of which had been outside of Trinity County.
Although several victims have been identified, investigators believe that additional victims may be outstanding.
The Trinity County Sheriffs Office requests that any victim, or individuals with information regarding victims, contact Detective Josh Ford at 530-623-8106 or email@example.com.
The arrest of Frederick was conducted as soon as the probable cause to affect the arrest had been established.
Then, in an update released on January 3rd, Deputy District Attorney Megan Marshall says a preliminary hearing date was set for February for Frederick.
The former teacher faces 12 counts of sexual assault with six enhancements due to multiple victims. He faces life in prison if convicted.
All of the victim were children under the age of 14.
The alleged acts occurred over the last few decades in California mainly in Trinity, Lassen and Shasta Counties as well as Arizona.
