1/3/2018 - Collision With Deer Causes Major Injuries - Click here to print this information

Today, at approximately 1:35 a.m., a minor female driver along with her passengers 21-year-old Joseph Birri and 19-year-old Brian Garringer, were traveling southbound on Hwy 395, just north of Hicks Road.

A deer jumped out in front of the vehicle and the female driver swerved to the left, striking the deer in the process.

The vehicle then slid sideways out of control across the northbound lane and off the roadway where it began to overturn.

The vehicle overturned several times through a barbed wire fence and striking a tree prior to coming to a rest on its roof in a field.

Passenger Garringer was ejected from the vehicle.

Once the vehicle came to a rest, passenger Birri crawled out of the vehicle and pulled the minor female out of the vehicle.

Both Mr. Garringer and Mr. Birri sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center.

However, the minor female passenger sustained major injuries and was flown to Renown Medical Center for treatment.
