1/3/2018 - Accident on Highway 395 Claims Life - Click here to print this information

Tuesday, at approximately 3:10 p.m., 64-year-old Freddie Sanchez was driving his Dodge Ram eastbound on Sears Road, stopped at the intersection with Hwy 395.

Meanwhile, 68-year-old Charles Miles and his passenger, 91-year-old Zellamae Miles, were driving a Honda Civic northbound on Hwy 395, south of the intersection with Sears Road, at approximately 65 MPH.

Mr. Sanchez accelerated from the intersection in an attempt to cross Hwy 395.

This placed Mr. Sanchezs Dodge directly into the path of Mr. Miles Honda.

Mr. Miles, in an attempt to avoid a collision, quickly applied the brakes to his Honda.

As Mr. Sanchez traveled across the northbound lane of Hwy 395, the front of the Honda struck the passenger side of the Dodge.

The force of the impact caused the Honda to spin out before finally coming to a rest.

The impact caused the Dodge to veer sharply to the left and off the paved portion of roadway before coming to a rest on the dirt shoulder.

The driver of the Dodge, Mr. Sanchez, was uninjured during the collision.

Meanwhile, Mr. Miles, driver of the Honda, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center.

And tragically, as a result of the collision, the Hondas passenger, Zellamae Miles sustained fatal injuries.
