11/1/2017 - Portola Residents Arrested After Reports of Possible Child Abuse

On October 26, 2017 at 1500 hours the Plumas County Sheriffs Office received a call from Eastern Plumas Health Care Facility reporting that they were treating a 2 year old victim for possible child abuse.
A deputy responded to the hospital to conduct the investigation.
Upon examination of the child by medical staff and the deputy, it was determined the child had numerous severe injuries to her face and body that required hospitalization.
The victims name and injury information is being withheld at this time due to the victims age and ongoing investigation.
As a result of the investigation the Sheriffs Office arrested the childs father, 22-year-old Isiah Ammon, of Portola and his girlfriend 22-year-old Miranda Rivera, also from Portola.
Ammon and Rivera are being held on charges of Torture, Corporal Injury to a Child and a bail set at $ 500,000.00.
The case has been sent to the Plumas County District Attorneys Office for prosecution.
