8/9/2017 - Poslin Fire Update
Click here to print this information
As of Tuesday night, the Poslin fire was 859.2 acres and 80% contained, burning in mostly brush & some scattered timber.
The fire is largely on the east side of Adams Peak, well west of CA Hwy 395.
Firefighters have cold-trailed (fire line is cold to the touch) most of the perimeter and the eastern portion of the fire is contained.
Resources are focused on reducing heat in the interior of the burn in expectation of outflow winds from passing thunderstorms, especially today.
On Monday, August 7, aircraft (air tankers, super scoopers and the sky crane) helped to strengthen the lines on the uphill edge of the fire.
Engines and crews remain on the the fire at night to patrol and mop-up as needed.
There are no road closures or evacuations.
The fire was started by lightning in the afternoon of August 6.
