During the Plumas County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board was asked to authorize Public Works to hire an associate engineer/assistant transportation planner at the salary step D.
Public Works has had four applicants apply, however, one individual stood out.
The man, who remained unnamed, has the experience necessary for the position.
He has worked with the government, in the private sector, and currently owns a firm in Sacramento.
He has also worked for the state of Nevada, and has experience with flood control.
The Board approved the hire in a 3-2 vote.
During the meeting, the Board was also asked to authorize the Chair to sign an employment agreement between the County of Plumas and Charles E. White, Director of Building Services effective August 14th, 2017.
The Board approved the agreement in a 4-1 vote, with Supervisor Engle voting No.
Finally, during the meeting, the Board was asked to discuss the possibility of forming a Health and Human Services Agency in Plumas County.
Potentially the formation of the agency would combine multiple social services departments, including: Public Health, Social Services, and Behavioral Health.
The Board was highly interested in the idea, which was presented by Social Services.
They unanimously encouraged the departments involved to explore the opportunity, with the provision that all the departments must be involved in the planning process.
